1. Gather evidence
- Photos of the signs, the bay and your vehicle.
- Proof of payment such as receipts or app confirmations.
- Anything explaining why you overstayed, such as a breakdown or medical issue.
2. Appeal to the operator
Use the appeal method on the notice and keep to the deadline, normally 28 days. State your reasons clearly and attach evidence. Keep copies of everything you send.
3. Use the independent appeals service
If the operator rejects your appeal, it should give you a code to use with POPLA or the IAS, depending on which trade body it belongs to. These services are free for motorists.
